However, I personally don't think Banner and Haslam have any affinity for Weeden, and I believe the last game of this season will be the last game for Weeden as a Brown.

Even if he isn't their guy, they are just going to dump all our QBs and bring in a fresh stable of QBs? You truly believe that?

I do. If Weeden isn't their guy, you don't wait. You dump him and go get your guy.

Having said that, I can't read anything into their words about Weeden.

I think that is just bad business decision. Of course the NFL is a business but of a much different kind where fan opinion and reaction sometimes plays into decision.

To take what is the most capable QB we have had since our return and drop him in favor of a ?? QB seems silly. I can understand dropping him in the depth chart, but to just drop him from the team seems silly. But then if he is 2nd QB, and 1st QB faulters you have the fans making noise. But the other side of THAT coin is if 1st QB faulters and you have NO capable QBs on the bench the fans still making noise.

Either way I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer to what will happen after this season, I just hope in the end it all pays dividends and pays them quickly enough for us all to see it and be able to see it to fruition. Otherwise I may just find other things to do on Sundays and just check highlights in the evening.

This is something that I don't get about the NFL... just because the guy on your team isn't "your guy" doesn't mean that "your guy" is conveniently available to you in the upcoming draft.

Every time you draft a quarterback in the top 3 rounds with significant deficiencies in your system, you are setting your organization back 2-4 years.

i agree.. it's like you are forcing your hand to pick someone just b/c.. you do it when the opportunity arises..

I've been saying forever that we should build around the QB.. this is really the first season we've done that by bringing in a new RB, WR, and RT. continue to do this, and it will be SOO much easier to throw a QB in there and have some success.

From what I've read about Banner ,they wouldn't appear to be foolish to dump BW without bringing a better QB coming in.

So if they deem he's not the guy ,they'll replace him with a better one.
Now don't think I want the guy gone.I don't..my choices in the draft were eithe rhim or Foles.

I think the guy just needs another year to get himself groomed. He's not far off.
I don't see any of the college prospects being better than him right now.I'm just don't see the hupla in Barkley and Smith seems gimimcky to me.
But I think they'll do their homework on Weeden and determine how much of his regression is due to the HC vs BW himself.
I hope they're patient and reasonable enough to give the guy time.

I think not. Grab your Twinkies and get your guns. It's gonna be a rough ride.

if 'your guy' is there to go get... I don't see anyone coming out of college next year that would be a major upgrade over Weeden right now... only thing is you'd get a younger QB with more time to groom... I'd rather keep Weeden right now unless there is a major upgrade in FA that I'm not thinking of...

I can read plenty into that, though.

After reading it, that was a poorly-worded use of the term "your guy."

What I mean is that if they don't fully believe in a guy that will fit your chosen system, there's no point in sitting back and trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. I'd add that is true regardless of where the player was drafted, especially in today's NFL where top-10 players are no longer financial cripplers, thanks to a revamped rookie pool.

In more simplistic terms, if they believe in Weeden, keep him. If they don't, it would be a huge mistake to do that just because he was a 1st round pick.

So, "their guy" refers to belief in his future, not what was invested to acquire him.
