Can we take a deep breath and see how the procedure goes? Man...battered fan syndrome rampant on here.

It's not a pretty day in Cleveland. On the same afternoon that a report surfaced claiming cornerback Joe Haden could be suspended, Browns fans have to deal with the five worst words in sports: "Evaluated by Dr. James Andrews." Here's the press release from Browns coach Pat Shurmur on his star rookie runner: "Trent Richardson is traveling to Pensacola, Fla., where he will have his left knee further evaluated by Dr. James Andrews tomorrow." ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Richardon's trip includes a tentatively schedule arthroscopic surgery to clean up a "loose particle of cartilage." NFL.com and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed the plans for surgery. Mort calls it a "proactive" minor procedure not related to Richardson's meniscus surgery on the same knee. No matter how "minor" the surgery is, this news is a major concern for the Browns considering Richardson's injury history. The Browns are planning to make Richardson the backbone of their offense. At the very least, the Browns might have to back off those plans to use Richardson as a workhorse back early in the season, if he's even ready for the beginning of the season. --------------- I just don't see us winning any of the first 4 games with all these players unable to start, and Game 5 is the Giants (loss) then Cincinnati (maybe we win). Hard to keep upbeat.
Go Browns !!!!

We just can't catch a break. So, Cogong lost for the season. Phil Taylor lost until sometime in October (and missing training camp, etc.), Fujita for 4 games, Haden for 4 games, and now Richardson with another knee surgery.
And I just bought my Richardson jersey yesterday........
Things just aren't starting off well for us.

It's your fault for buying the jersey, you've doomed us all!!!!!!!
Too bad, but better now than during the actual season, and its not a rebuilding of the ligaments, its to clean it up (like removing a rock from your shoe - of course with a RB its never good to hear work on the knees, but I will remain positive til confirmed amputation occurred of his leg ), while not ideal anytime, its minor and he should be back for week 1.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

They're not making it easy for a guy like me who is trying so hard not to be a Debbie downer.
On the bright side. Against the Eagles Weeden should make a good run at the rookie single game pass attempt record.

It is hard not to be a downer when in 2 days time you lose your best run stuffing linebacker for the year. Your #1 corner is looking at 4 game suspension for a drug test and the running back you just traded up to #3 for is about to have knee surgery. OO and btw the Browns are being sold, last years top pick is out atleast the first 6 games and Fujita has a 3 game suspension for playing dog the bounty hunter.

I wonder what Chicken Little would think about this. I think Richardson will be fine and in the meantime we'll get to sort out who the two backups will be because I don't think they will keep 4 RBs on the final roster. I look forward to seeing a healthy Hardesty and BJax play.

With that he might even be able to break Ty Detmer's infamous record of 7 INT's in one game.
Hope Richardson is a quick healer and the rest of our RB crew can stay healthy over the preseason.

I had this surgery back in late 80's. I walked out of the op room (after the anesthesia wore off, of course) with no crutches and all you have is stitches that have to come out. You actually feel BETTER right away. BUT you cant tear the stitches, which s where the time to heal comes in. Lets hope thats what it is.

Wow, I don't read the boards since last week, come back and Richardson is getting his knee cleaned up, Gocong is gone, and there is some bogus rumor with Haden involving the ADD drug. I mean really? It's seems impossible that so much stuff can happen in that short amount of time! If Richardson goes down it is over.

Didn't Hardesty get hurt in the offseason...
Then we brought him back for the LAST PRESEASON GAME...
And he got hurt again...?

How about dawg the politician. All the union crap and the "politician" type speech this guy gives has really turned me off to him. I also think he is a player who "used" to be decent, but now is the Charlie Batch of the Browns. A high up in the players union who is kept around, IMO, for that reason more than his play. I also find it pretty ironic, that he was a player advocate and spokesman for the union who help with the new CBA. He was worried too much practice was hard on the players, and shorten their careers, then he is caught being one that put up bounties to hurt players on opposing teams. He has admitted to paying the bounties, but just as any other politician would do, said it was not about what everybody knows it was. I can easily see this guy running for congress after he retires.

The offense sucked. Too bad of shape....if that is any indication of what the season will look like, it was pretty much on par with the unwatchable offense of last year. Which was when we had a decent D that wasn't missing key starters.

Time for the back-ups to stand up and show they belong on this team, hold the place together till the starters get back,
If our back up cant fill in for a few games, than well they dont deserve a place on thgis team, Cut thier behinds, there's going to be plenty of willing bodies floating around the waiver wire here in a few weeks,
Stop whinning and gut it up.....

There.s nothing worse than having to post about injuries...suspensions and excuses why we can't win on Sundays....

I went also. Weeden looked great throwing one on one to the WRs. In 11 on 11 he sucked as did all the QBs. He laid beautiful, catchable balls in there consistently until full units were on the field! It was hard to tell Weeden from Colt from Wallace from Lewis! He has a great arm but man that decision display was poor.
Gordon is a monster! Very T.O.ish in build. He IS pretty raw but man he sure looks the part!

It's tough especially when a lot of us are looking forward to watching T-Rich run. Just a "clean up" or not, taking a knife to the knee never sounds like a good thing but his expected recovery time, for a typical procedure of this nature, that's really the only encouraging news in this regard right now. Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson definitely undergoing the scope today to remove loose cartilage Thursday, August 09, 2012, 11:54 AM By Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND -- Browns running back Trent Richardson is definitely undergoing arthroscopic surgery today tohave a small piece of loose cartilage removed from his left knee, a source told The Plain Dealer. As of last night, the Browns would only say that the procedure was likely. World-renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who performed Richardson's original scope in February, is also doing this procedure. No word yet on how it went, but it was expected to be a very minor scope that would keep Richardson out only about two-three weeks, the source said. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said the team is hoping Richardson will be back in time for the regular-season opener Sept. 9 against the Eagles, but he couldn't say for sure. Richardson will miss all or some of the preseason games, beginning with tomorrow's opener in Detroit.

Thanks for the info... Was it more WR and QB not being on the same page, or just bad plays by all the QB's?

I think that Shrumur offered a little foresight to this in his statement about many guys having "camp legs" right now, earlier this week. It's why they call it "Training Camp". You got to break them down to build them up. The good news is that with the structure of the new CBA, all 32 teams are going threw the same process at the same time.

There are really no knives involved other than possibly a small incision. It's more like a big needle.
This is just some junk that broke loose or was left behind from the earlier procedure and finally lodged in a place it caused discomfort.
I am taking the high road here. TR will miss the next 2 games to heal, push to get in the 3rd and be held out to be safe, get a few reps in the last game just to get him back, then start the opener.
He then gains 119 yards on the ground and the Browns win 27-17.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

I'm pretty positive I posted what I saw last night, but it seems to be gone. So either I'm crazy, forget where the hell I posted it, or someone didn't like my negative assessment.
I was pumped up to go last week, then came the Gocong news, then the Richardson/Haden news earlier that day. Then I saw the offense in action, and felt about ready to puke.
Weeden threw some nice balls in drills, but in the 11-11 drills, he was bad. Threw a couple of picks. Gordon is big and athletic like they say, but the boy dropped 3 balls that I was able to see, including a great pass in the red zone drill from Weeden in traffic, which would have been a TD. He dropped another one over the middle with nobody near him. Benjamin was a no show....maybe he got some balls outside of punt drills, but I didn't see any. He is quick and fast, no doubt, but if you're not getting open and getting the ball as a WR, he's just a STer.
Hardesty looked faster and quicker, but there was nothing going on with the run game. I did see a couple of ok runs by him, but nothing that would have netted over 10 yards if there was contact. A lot of the plays got stretched alllll the way outside and out of bounds with minimal gains. I don't even remember seeing Obie....looks like he'll be moving on.
I focused on the O a lot more than D, so I don't have a lot of input there. But the offense, granted it was practice, didn't look much better than the pretty much unwatchable offense we saw last year in the 11-11 drills.
EDIT- I guess I am crazy. I see where it was, but vaguely just said they sucked

Well as you can see, I'm no surgeon.
As long as T-Rich is ready to give em hell Week 1 then I could care less. He's the new Brown I want to see, the rest is just a bonus. Hardesty has shown us enough to merit trading UP to grab a "premier caliber" back so I want to see what all of the fuss is about.
