It is only week one. I will try to avoid any "the sky is falling" thoughts .. BUT

-that was really bad

- We have to really, really be concerned about Watson (if we weren't already)

- Our OT spots are a huge issue

- the lack of run game is simply not sustainable

- The injuries are already piling up

So what points did you make are a surprise? The realists on this forum expected exactly what happened. In fairness DW would have probably played better if he wasn't running for his life all game.

Honest non emotional response to that. Offense going 3 and out all first half gassed the defense. Deshawn doesn’t look comfortable whether it was bad line protection or just not being good anymore. The playcalling wasn’t very good either. One or the other will be gone by next season if this is what the season looks like. Micah Parsons affected them all day. Lack of any run game makes the loss of Callahan that much worse.

It’s only one game.

On to the next. The rest of the division wasn’t lighting it up either today.

Seemed like a typical Stefanski prepared team and game plan. Dallas defending within 8 yards of the the line of scrimmage and the Browns running plays right into the D strength. No sense of cohesive approach, and no fire off the line. Offensive line was a sieve at best, no adjustments and no protection. Defense gassed by mid 2Q.

Cleveland Ground Hog Day...same stuff on repeat forever. I don't have high expectations for the season if this is the 2024 "plan."

Conklin and Wills have to play, even if they are not 100%. Ford is nothing special. Hard not to think of where we’d be with Baker and all those picks.

If he had gone deep early a time or two, he wouldn’t have had so much pressure. I didn’t see a pass over 6 or 7 yards for almost the entire first half.

Then to throw a little salt on the wound, Baker tossed 4 TDs today.

Fire whoever advised Jimmy to approve the DW trade. How good does John Dorsey look right now ? He brought us Baker, brought Goff to Detroit, and got booted out of our lame-arse 3 rd world city because he wanted to retain Freddy Kitchens.

Well, look back now and you’ll see that John Dorsey was right the whole time.

That was no fun. I expect a lot more games like this because we have one of the toughest schedules in the league.

Fair enough, but if I had to choose between Dorsey/Freddy/Baker or Berry/Stefanski/Deshawn, I’d go with the former.

my concerns w/Watson are numerous

- he is really LATE with everything ... throws, reads, decision making

- his deep ball sailing out of bounds multiple times was not the Watson of old

- he takes a ton of hits (maybe not his fault obviously)

- he seems to be low on a lot of balls and/or under throw them on the run

- above all, it's his look of befuddlement or daze .. just ZERO confidence

The defense only allowed 265 yards of offense and 2 TDs. for being on the field forever due to our horrible offense, i wouldve thought it'd be worse.

that's the only bright spot i can think of, because the offense and special teams was terrible.

i really dont like seeing Ford back there. and i swear we only use strong in garbage time. i really dont know whats going on, but im also shocked we still have 3 starters on offense out with injuries that occurred LAST season.

DW doesn't pack the mental fortitude to play in Cleveland, you can see it in his eyes on the sideline when he's facing adversity. Browns need to extend Chubb, because Ford ain't it, he tries hard but just spins wheels. We can't drop DW, won't we take a $70mm+ hit next year if we release hime because we kept restructuring his contract?

If the FO decides DW isn't the one how about trading him to the Giants straight up for Daniel Jones. The change of scenery might do both some good thumbsup

To me, still is all on the HC due to preparedness (or lack of it). Stefanski reminds me of Major Malcom Powers from Heartbreak Ridge, a lot of book smarts, but an ego so big he's a walking Charlie Foxtrot.

Just my opinion...

Simply this staff has run its course. We are no better than we were when they came on, and worse in several areas. Deep playoff run this year or blow it up. It’s time

—Poor QB play.

—Poorly prepared team.

I think it’s going to be a long season. 5-12ish type of season.

NY isn’t going to take on that contract. We’d have to offer them Myles and Wyatt Teller just to consider DW’s contract.

We had 3rd and 4 at midfield with a chance to get back in the game and ran it. I said out loud why didn't we throw it? then we went for it on 4th and threw an incompletion. Things like that drive us fans crazy!!!

Jones contract is pretty big and our FO can offer to pay some of DW's. It could be worked out. DW might find New York more to his liking

I felt like blitzing Dak early wasn't the right approach. Let our front 4 try to hit home vs their rookies and roll the coverage to Lamb. Take your chances that way.

Daniel jones ?? Come on. That dude is worse than Watson on his best day. Getting Flacco back wouldn’t be horrible

This was kinda sorta what I was expecting. Not because of anything except (1.) the tackle situation and the strength of the Cowboys pass rush and (2.) what appeared to be a very limited camp for the starters. They just had very little time practicing together as a unit.

I do expect we’ll improve as our guys play together more but until the OL gets sorted, we’re going to struggle on O.

The clock is seriously ticking on DW. If he doesn’t take a robust step forward in the coming months, we’re going to be looking to cut bait and rebooting the position in the offseason and that would mean lots of changes. Here’s to hoping beyond hope that he somehow, some way starts to click.

My biggest concern the past two years has been that Watson will never come close to the player the Browns traded for.

- Watson is broken. At some point he will get injured and hang it up for the season. And the Browns are stuck with him. I expect the Watson/Stefanski relationship to sour at some point.

- After putting on a full court press to get the fans in the stadium and hyping this team, the Hslams have to be embarrassed and not happy that fans were loudly booing the team off the field by halftime.

- This team was completely unprepared to play today. That's on Stefanski.

- One first down in the first half. One. That's expansion year 1999 bad.

- Browns are fortunate next week's game is on the road.

- Were there any positives? Hopkins made his kicks. Bojorquez boomed some punts. Darden a couple nice returns.

- I see a team that looks like they do not believe in their QB.

- Super Bowl is a silly pipe dream

I can't help but think back on Warren Sharp's somewhat recent post on 'X' highlighting what Stefanski's offense did well (12 personnel) vs what Watson did well in the past (11 personnel) are like oil and water.

Tough match-up next week against Jacksonville.

Watson rarely comes off his first read and holds the ball way, way too long. He has issues reading Defenses and locating wide open receivers.

The Browns can't cut bait.

Cutting Watson pre-June 1st cut in 2025 would result in $172M in dead cap. A post-June 1st cut would result in $118M in dead cap.

It doesn't appear they they can move on from him until 2027. You would have to just bench him and hope you stumble across a Brock Purdy.

Nobody is going to trade for him.

Watson was not game ready IMO. We miss Callahan immensely. Watson dropping back was barely able to outlet the offensive line back pedaling. He freezes on his first read. He HAS to be rested after camp and pre-season. So much lousy that I am not sure where you begin to fix. Listening to KS won't answer much. I was ashamed to watch this today. Tackle is not a part-time position in the NFL. Horrible line today.

Props to Dallas. They were ready to play. What we did to prepare to get us to this point, this game, didn't work well.

Watson has been trying to fit a square peg into a round hole for us since Day 1. He never wanted to be here, and still doesn't. Joe Flacco being here was the most fun and excitement this Team has had since the 2020-2021 season. Flacco fit the system perfectly.

I accept your judgment. Today was putrid, and it was one game. Is that to say it is only one game and an outlier if things are addressed and improve? Or is more accurate to say it is the first one of many coming?

I didn't see much variety in plays called. I did not see much in adjustments. I did see more of the same, especially in the "Three and Out" offensive package we ran all of the first half. That was made worse by the flags we collected for the laundromat. Even worse, I gagged when the glittering booth personality TB kept repeating we should stop going backwards at least nine times. For me, big name, little appeal. Gimme Bernie any day. When I tuned in, I was totally prepared to cheer and carry on, but I came around as the game wore on.

I've seen people say that Watson simply isn't a good fit with KS and our franchise, and I truly believe that now. KS loves timing, particulars, etc ... and Watson likes one read and/or improvisation. Opposite sides of the coin.

Not to mention his diminished skills and lack of confidence. He's not even a top 32 QB in the league
