Examine the ball's trajectory, and track where it lands.
Extrapolate that landing point back to field of play.
There is no possible way that P.J.'s pass could have been caught in the field of play. It was a pass thrown out of the endzone.
It may have not been thrown into the 8th row of seats, but it was not a ball that could be legally caught for a touchdown.
I should note this point: I'm actually happy that these 2 calls brought the Browns to a 4-2 record in 2023.
How many times since 1999, has CLE been the victim of bad officiating in circumstances just like this? 20-30 times?
How many ref calls added to CLE's seasonal loss count, when they were routinely racking up 4-12 seasons?
I swear, Browns fans are so snake-bitten by "Battered Dawg Syndrome," that they can't accept a gift from incompetent refs when the gift was dropped right into their laps.
Dawgs: Elves were just the recipients of the "Gift that kept on giving" to all the teams who have ever played us since The Return. This was the first time that the sketchy calls went against The Other Team.
Clem's bottom line: this is quite possibly the very first time since 99, that game-changing ref's calls on the field actually helped a CLE team.
Browns (for once) got help from the refs. The PI call should have been a holding call, but I'm happy to take the results of the play sequence.
