IDK about some of these trades, he was worth more than 6th, let alone us sending a 7th and him for a 6th. NE is fleecing us. unless he was going to be cut and Dorsey decided to get something for him instead.

Of course he was. It's hard for a WR to blow past you when you have a 20 yard head start. Then how come Jamar Taylor didn't have similar success? You'd think that Jason McCourty would have had a ton of short easy passes completed against him, but that wasn't the case. He had among the most pass breakups in the league. I understand why McCourty was cut, but I would have rather kept a player at his salary and skill level.

Then how come Jamar Taylor didn't have similar success? OK listen up. Wrap some seran wrap around your head so it doesm't make a mess when it explodes. Taylor was worse than McCourty. OK so now you know just one of a multitude of reasons why we went 0-16 last year.

Our secondary sucked. Almost everyone knew it. Now, suddenly we had talent that we're giving away? What planet did I land on?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

OUR CB's sucked worse than advertised last year. We knew they sucked, the other teams knew they sucked, just the same as everybody in the NFL knew our WR's sucked. We didn't have a prayer of winning more than a few games last year and everybody except the fans knew it.

It is obvious that CB must be addressed in a big way before TC. I fully expect that Dorsey knows what must be done...

He was like our most consistent DB last season, but I'm not surprised (or particularly content)
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

It's obvious they while Dorsey want more vets on the team, corner is a position he wants younger legs.
We just signed a couple of DBs....one is said to be slated for FS, and no doubt we will draft a corner . My guess is one of the first 5 picks.
We have Howard Wilson on the mend. Dorsey may have liked him.
It's a new crew in town. New crews cut a lot of players you didn't think would be cut.
I don't have a problem with it. If you are a corner and you lose your legs, you're done.
I remember how painful it was watching Hanford Dixson go from a really good corner to a guy wearing lead boots in about a 2 week time.
It was sad. I mean it seemed he went from good to bad from 1 Sunday to the next.

I saw Hanford Dixon at a Brown's Backers Dinner about 13 years ago. He looked in great shape and was asked by someone in the crowd if he felt like he could still play. Hanford replied, "I could go out and do it.." then he smiled and laughed, "for one play. Then I'd have to head to the bench. My day would be over." Someone in the crowd started singing, "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was." Hanford laughed and pointed pointed a finger at the guy smiling, "You got that right," he said.

just how do we trade a guy after you cut them???
Twin brothers play together. We traded our 7th rounder we got a 6th rounder. Guess he was not a player I know he was a bit slow but was smart enough to play our zone. Stat wise he was our best. Physically he is why we couldnt press.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

It was probably announced. The player was told and the media was told.
But until the paperwork hits the NFL office, nothing is official.
I would suspect all teams make the announcement a few hours before sending in the paperwork to the league, just hoping what happened today, happens.

There is a reason he played so far off the line of scrimmage last year. It was not done just for the hell of it. People just don't get it. AT ALL. Unbelievable the comments we hear. Just WOW.

Teams know that teams don't make these announcements and then send in the paper. The paper gets sent in by the 4PM deadline.

I get it. On three different levels. 1. He isn't very good and he's older. He was benched in Tenn despite them having a terrible secondary. 2. He bad-mouthed his HC. Dorsey and Hue are working together. Had to send his complaining self packing. 3. Look at the posters who are complaining. LOL...it's the same guys who ruin almost every thread w/their constant bashing of Hue and portraying Sashi as a saint.

I actually figured the second half of your reason was in play. The posts have been all over the place, nothing to learn from them, save a few posters. Anyway, hope to hear your thoughts on our trades and subsequent FA signings. What are your thoughts on Coleman trying to be a pro LT? I know Joe talked him up but then, Joe talks up all his teammates. lol

I don't know. He's young and can grow.
My problem w/him at RT was I thought his lateral movement was poor. He's quick enough going forward and he can backpedal decently, but his lateral movement looked very slow to me. I didn't consider him as a viable replacement at LT due to that weakness because it will be exposed more than it was at RT, due to more speed rushers lining up the defensive right side.
However, we have some smart football guys in the building and they have seen Coleman a lot more than I have, so perhaps I am wrong.

J/C - Back on topic because of course a certain someone had to take it off topic.
I'm sad to see McCourty go, but he was on a backwards slide. Fantastic leader and his play was invaluable at spots, but he wasn't the future. I won't be surprised if Jamar Taylor is also out.
Carrie and Mitchell will be interesting additions to battle it out with BB-C and Wilson. I also won't be surprised if that #4 pick is currently aimed at a slight trade-down followed by the addition of a guy like Denzel Ward.
Could be a really deep group of corners by the time it's all said and done. I wasn't against McCourty being part of it, but I understand the move.

I got banned once also, for using another word for crappy. Surprised me as I have seen a lot worse said on here.
Kind of surprised by this move, I know he's really not Williams's ideal type of player for the CB position but I thought maybe they would give him a chance to compete for the FS position with Randall. I know there was talk last year of him possibly playing FS and right now the only FS we have is Randall and even he is a projection and we have no legitimate backup.

It's possible he asked out. I have no proof, just that I recognize it as a possibility.

According to Dorsey in his presser...He stated he sat with McCourty and his agent and informed him that we are heading in a direction and that he wouldn't be in the club's plan or make the team. And felt it was fair to allow him to latch on elsewhere.

So we got a 6th in 2018 and the Pats got a 7th in 2019 and McCourty? Courtesy NFL Network ...

He said that he might not make the team, and that he wanted to give him the respect to have the chance to sign somewhere else or something like that. I'm not sure it's sign or play. But he said might not make the team

If Dorsey doesn’t take Barkley at 4 he’ll get a running back in the 2nd. My guess would be Guice hardest most punishing back in the draft.
