Just curious who everyones top 5 favorite players are, here are mine.

1. Kellen Winslow Jr. - Easily my favorite sports athlete of all time.

2. Leigh Bodden - Liked him before he was a big time player on our team, like him alot more now that he is

3. Leon Williams - Another Miami player, I was pulling for him last year and was glad to see how he lit it up late in the season and how he contained Vick.

4. Braylon Edwards - I'm not huge into College Football (I like it alot now though) and I'm also not against Michigan, but I like Braylon... I feel things were blown up last year with what happened and I respect him for coming back early, and believe some of his drops were from hearing footsteps and trying to absorb a hit and protect that knee... I know when I came back from a broken ankle in baseball I was afraid to slide.

5. Lawerence Vickers - I expect him to be our breakout player and like him alot.

Darkhorses - Brady Quinn and Jamal Lewis... I already have Quinn's jersey and liked him in College, Jamal Lewis is not a Raven folks, he's a Brown, if he produces I will absolutely love him especially if he runs over defenders.

Out of pure respect for talent - Kamerion Wimbley - He doesn't talk alot, he's a great guy, just seems like a laid back guy, but DAMN is he good... Out of pure respect for his talent I like him, but for my top 5 favorite players he isn't there, but if it were based on talent, he'd be in the top 3.

Do they have to be current Players?

If not:

Eric Turner
Clay Mathews
Bernie Kosar
Kevin Mack
Micheal Dean Parry

If they do, I don't think I have five yet but my two favs right now are:

Jones and Wimbley

I'll go next

I agree with the number 1,

1. Kellen Winslow, just looking at some of his plays from last year, and how hard he works and how big the damn guy is, by far my favorite on the team.

2. Kamerion Wimbley, A beast of an athelete and everyone loves a pash rusher. also, great guy with a good head on his shoulders.

3. Josh Cribbs, A local favorite and a tremendous talent that got on the team by pure hard work.

4. Leigh Bodden, another UFA that is really one of the top corners in the league, and i love a guy who flies under the radar like he does. the media may not know him, but you damn well know that the no. 1 reciever of our opponant does.

5. Sean Jones, one of the few smart moves by Butch, quietly became our version of troy polumalu but with better hair.

Rookies

Eric Wright, another guy that has a ton to prove, that i think will show it.

Past, Present, or both?

I can't really say past, because, well...I wasn't born yet.

Present:

1) Wimbley
2) Jurevicious
3) Edwards
4) Jones
5) Dawson

1) Winslow
2) Wimbley
3) Quinn
4) Jones
5) Edwards
5a) Thomas (in case Edwards is a headcase again)

EDIT: This makes me think. I think back to the '04 and '05 Browns and I don't think I can name 5 people I really cared for/thought could be something big (besides Winslow and Edwards).

Now there's a good chunk of NFL-caliber talent on this team (I'm taking a leap of faith on the two rooks, I know). It was a tough list for me to put together because I really do like the Boddens and Fraleys, Lewises, Steinbach's and Tuckers of the world.

Wimbley, Winslow, Jones, JT and Cribbs. Cribbs because he is a kamikazi on KO's. You gotta sacrifice the body.

I think the Browns BEST five players are (and therefore my favorites ):

Wimbley
Winslow
Bodden
Jones
Steinbach

All of these guys have a legitimate shot at making the Pro Bowl, IMO, and I think by the time the season is over, they will all be considered in the upper echelon of players at their postions, if they are not already.

Can we say that about that many guys since we've been back?

The season can't get here fast enough.

I'd have to say mine right now are:

Kellen Winslow Jr.
Leigh Bodden
Joshua Cribbs
Brady Quinn
Joe Thomas

And yes, it is very exciting that with the group I just listed they could also be pro bowl players. I am so so excited about this season, come on already!

1. Andra Davis
2. Bodden
3. Shea
4. Kenard Lang
5. Roye
5a. Winslow

I decided just to do since '99 otherwise it would have been too difficult to pick 5.

I just decided to do my favorite Browns since '99 not the current team or before we came back. You can laugh aty Shea and Lang but Lang I thought was our best DE we have had and came to play every game. Shea didn't get much playing time but I always loved how he wasn't afraid to take a hit and lower his shoulder for the extra yardage.
I did it this way because I saw that some were putting their favorite of all time and I found that too hard to narrow down.

I think I'm more into hard workers rather than flashy guys. I don't get how people can have Joe T, who hasn't played even a preseason game, and Quinn, who hasn't even signed, on their lists already Yeah, I'll put them on my sig, but one of them isn't even a Brown yet.

Top 5? Easy...

1. Daylon McCutcheon! -- Favorite player by far, didnt have the most talent but was a class act and used his brains to compensate, sad that he is gone though.

2. Kellen Windlow - I like his fire and dislike some of his bone-head moves.. but overall I like the guy for some reason, maybe because he kinda looks like Vin Diesel?

3. Kamerion Wimbley - Again.. couldn't ask for a nicer guy and he is gonna be our first pro bowler in a long time!

4. Josh Cribbs - Local kid that had to make it as an undrafted free agent.. good guy and good returner, still plays like he is just trying to make the team.

5. Brodney Pool - No clue why I like the guy, I just do. Hoping he's gonna be another star safety to team with Sean Jones.

Oh and Kenard Lang was definately the funniest guy the browns have had since they've been back...

Wimbley
Braylon
Winslow
Thomas (even though he hasn't proven anything yet)
Jones

My dark horses would be Wright and Quinn. If Quinn can put this team on his shoulders and carry them to the promise land then he'll be my #1

just clicking...

Not sure why every list does not have Wimbley on it.

--Quiet, humble, hard working.

--Not a bust for a first round pick.

--Legitimate chance at being a true difference maker in the NFL, with the potential to be one of the best 5 at his position.

--Could make an argument he should have won DROY.

--All that, and he plays for the Browns.

This guy should be on everyone's list. He's the only one that should.

Not telling everyone what to do or think. This is just my opinion. I'm surprised there were several that left him off of their lists.

My top 5 ALL-TIME:

Kosar
Minnifield
Slaughter
Turner
Perry

I always liked this guy for his name...Thane Gash. Is there a more imposing name for a safety than that?

Chris Rockins was another well named Safety.

5. Cribbs

Hoping Quinn will move in there, but I can't put him there until at least he's signed.

I never forget the game against Dallas Kellan's rookie year...the game he broke his leg in. It was 3rd and 9 and Shea caught a 2 yrd pass and turned up field, lowered his shoulder and ran through like 3 defenders for the first and then some. I fell in love with him right then. I hear he is back in Cleveland training near camp I wouldn't mind signing him again.

as soon as I read the thread... I was saying to myself I know no one will mention him. For some reason... I loved to watch him play... I loved it! He was my fav browns player when i was growing up. & my other big fav was Clay Matthews.

Top 5 now...

#1 Jones I think myself and only a few others had his back when we first picked him and even esp after we drafted Pool. Something about him just makes me love that we got him.

#2 Bodden Anytime a WR like Johnson says he is the best cover corner in the NFL... ya gotta respect that. He has always had a knack at shutting down the big time WR. IF there was a true shut down corner in the NFL... this kid would be it.

# 3 Harrison (The Ghost) I've watched a lot of film on this kid. Before we drafted him someone on this board turned me onto him and since then I've been impressed. Once he gets his blocking down we could be looking at the next Metcalf. What a combo will that be? Lewis/Harrison wow!

#4 Dawson Sometimes the fans don't give credit where it is due...

*Ended the 2006 campaign as the sixth-most accurate kicker in NFL history (156-190) with an 82.1% career FG pct…

*Set a career-high with 27 FG in 2005, which ranks second in franchise history (Matt Stover, 29 FG, 1995)

*Finished with 100 points (27-29 FG and 19-21 PAT) in 2005 for the third time in his career and joined Jim Brown as the only other player in franchise history with three seasons of 100 points or more.

*Established a franchise record 27 consecutive FG made from 2003 to 2004

This guys sets all sorts or records and people question his leg. I still don't understand it. Once we start winning... Im sure that will all fade into the sunset and people will be saying man we are lucky we have Dawson. JMHO

#5 Winslow his actions has won me over... I wasn't really a big fan when we drafted him. I thought we traded too much I thought he was gna be the next T.O. He put himself out on the field all last year injured like a true blue collar player and produced with outstanding numbers. My kinda guy!

1) Ken Dorsey- I'm a Hurricane fan and this guy is my favorite Miami guy I've followed. He isn't the most gifted, but he knows what is supposed to happen. I'm hoping that they somehow find a way to keep him, because I honestly think that he can help in the development of Brady Quinn.

2) Josh Cribbs- I know I was the only one that wanted the Browns to draft Cribbs. He went undrafted and it worked out but I got jumped on the old board for having him as a 7th round pick in my mock draft. I watched him at Kent for a few years and he was pure excitement. I was just on the Browns website yesterday and saw that they have Cribbs jerseys, I ordered...

3) Kamerion Wimbley- I don't know why he isn't on more lists here. He's good. He'd be higher on my list, but he went to FSU, so he falls a spot or two for me.

4) Hank Fraley- He's not the most gifted or most skilled person on the team, but he gives everything that he has on each play. I was really glad to see him re-sign this offseason. Even if Bentley comes back, Hank deserves to be starting.

5) Steve Heiden- He does everything asked of him, has good hands, a solid blocker and I honestly believe that he is starting quality. I love that the initial reports have the Browns running from a lot of 2 TE formations because Heiden is a nice safety valve for the QB.

Current Team...

Fraley
JJ
Zastudil
Bodden
Big Ted

During my Lifetime....

Jim Brown
Leroy Kelly
Clay Mathews
Brian Sipe
Hanford Dixon

I liked Groza too. I didn't include him in my 5 because by the time I started following the Browns, Lou "The Toe" was finishing up his career as a kicker only..... I was alive, but just a toddler when Groza did it all.....
