j/c...from what I have read around and investigated our QBs as much as possible.
In Denver and in Houston. Brock had a problem reading defenses. As soon as teams found that out they disguised their defenses and true to form he was in total disarray. When we get close to the Endzone and the field becomes smaller he gets very confused. I don't care about stats or anything just scoring and winning. If it was about stats Kessler wins hands down. I still think he might have moved ahead of Brock.
Now as a rookie Kizer has the same difficulties in reading NFL Defenses all rookies do. But why go with the Vet who has shown no progress in reading those defenses. Meanwhile I think the kicker on Hue naming Kizer is his PROGRESS has been amazing and it has not peaked.
Also from the Hue presser its still not written in stone...although the stencil is on the Marble slab. According to Hue things can change in the next couple of weeks but he is feeling very comfortable with Kizer. Btw he seems to talk daily with Joe Thomas on this subject...those discussions will be kept confidential. But he respects Joe T.
As long as the kid keeps on progressing I am happy with this decision. And if we beat the Steelers in our opener with Kizer at QB...he will become a legend in ONE GAME...lol
For me when it comes down to it all. Our Defense will determine how good we will be this season!

I dont see it happening ... Henne's better than BO .. What would anyone realistically give up for him now ... were two weeks away from opening kick off and he'd have to go learn a new O ... and hes not good .... that cat was let out of the bag last year ... hes simply not a good nfl qb so u have to wonder what anyone would give up for him ... unfortunately hes worth more to us than what anyone would give up for him ... People seem to forget how he got here ... the texans gave us a 2nd rnd pick to take him off their off hands ... think about that ... folks expectations shoud not have been very high ... Look at grudens lead in on Monday night .. that guy is mister positive ... that lead in was sad as could be coming from him .. the only positive thing he had to say was he had experience ... thats like saying your blind date has a great personality .... Everyone getting all excited about KIzer may want to remember a few things about him also ... - he should have stood in college another year ... EVERYONE says that ... yet somehow he's going to be ready for the nfl ... okie dokie .. - if he stood at nd he may not have started for us ... think about that .. The kid has a ton of talent .. he has a ton to work on and learn ... Its gonna be a roller coaster ... Good Luck DK ... hope your a quick study ...

You aren't going to ruin BO or CK by throwing them in there. They are what they are. You are going to ruin DK by throwing him in there. He is the one with the potential to be much more.

I'm just now joining this discussion (haven't posted in months, actually) so sorry if it's been discussed: Is friggin' Joe Thomas going to actually start in this game? I think Kizer, the whole team, and fanbase would like to factor him into the equation for the big dress rehearsal.

It was right the first time. The kid can't make his reads and that isn't going to be fixed by week 1. We play Pittsburgh week 1 and they are going to blitz like crazy. He most likely won't make it through the game.

I couldn't agree with you more. The Steelers will be licking their chops at the thought of playing against a rookie QB who is playing in his 1st game. They beat on us twice a year as it is and now with a young QB playing, good luck. If we started BO the 1st 4 or 5 games and it wasn't going well then maybe I would think about putting DK in but not before that. I like DK wish him the best and hope he doesn't get hurt or have his confidence ruined. I really hope he is finally our franchise QB>

Yes, it is.
You have also opinionated on things that were untrue, such as your claims "he was benched for Manning" and Cody "threw the deep ball better than Osweiler." Lately, you are crusading the "he is a bad teammate" agenda.
All opinions and I know that at least two of them are untrue.

I posted the article on what happened in Denver. Allow me to recap:
--Manning was injured.
--Brock took over w/the it being understood that Manning would be the starter when he returned from the injury. There was absolutely no question about that.
--Brock played better than Manning.
--That led media members and fans to speculate about whether or not Brock should remain at qb even when Manning returned because he was playing better than Manning.
--Kubiak decided to stick w/Manning for the playoffs. Brock was not "benched." Manning didn't lose his job due to injury.
But, you keep trying to deceive people.
BTW-------------Memphis posted something earlier today about how Brock has been a good teammate here in Cleveland. I noticed you chose to ignore that information.
We all have opinions and that is fine, but you called Dep out and I really don't think you are one to talk about such a thing.
Have a nice day.

But it is what it is decided by Jackson. Who's been around the kid since April. Ruining a QB could start with a 1-15 Aikman. Then a 3-13 Manning with 28 Picks. Hmmmm. Now go ahead and say Kizer has NOTHING that Aikman and Manning had coming out. What we need is a decent defense, a running game producing play Action and NOT abandoning it and an OL that can protect.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/brock-osweiler-benched-peyton-manning-leads-broncos-to-win/Brock Osweiler benched, Peyton Manning leads Broncos to win With the No. 1 seed in the AFC on the line for Denver, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak decided to put the ball in Peyton Manning's hands. The 39-year-old quarterback, who went into Sunday's game as a backup for the first time in 21 years, finished the game for the Broncos after Brock Osweiler was benched in the third quarter. Manning came in with the Broncos trailing 13-7 and immediately brought Denver back. Manning led Denver to points on four of the first drives that he played, a total that included two touchdown drives. In the end, Manning did just enough to help the Broncos to a 27-20 win. The aging quarterback finished 5 of 9 for 69 yards in the game. Manning came in because Osweiler was benched after struggling for more than two quarters against the Chargers. During his time on the field, Osweiler threw two interceptions and the Broncos turned the ball over a total of five times. After Denver scored on its opening drive with Osweiler, the Broncos did nothing on their next eight drives, which prompted Kubiak to bring in Manning. During his first drive on the field, Manning immediately directed an eight-play, 80-yard drive that gave the Broncos a 14-13 lead over the Chargers. Manning went 2-for-2 for 20-yards on the drive. Not only was he perfect on his two passes, but Manning also checked out of several play calls, which created running room for C.J. Anderson. Anderson carried the ball three times for 45 yards and a touchdown on the drive. Manning's first completion was the first pass he's attempted since Week 10, when he was benched after throwing three interceptions in a loss to the Chiefs. Manning was diagnosed with a foot injury shortly after that and Osweiler was named the team's starting quarterback. Now, it looks like things will be up in the air as the Broncos head to the postseason. Since Denver won, Kubiak will now have two weeks to pick his starter because the Broncos will have a first-round bye. The Broncos coach has said since November that if Manning was 100 percent healthy, then he'd be the starter. Manning will now have two weeks to get to 100 percent, so don't be surprised if he's starting when the Broncos open the postseason.

Now go ahead and say Kizer has NOTHING that Aikman and Manning had coming out. What we need is a decent defense, a running game producing play Action and NOT abandoning it and an OL that can protect. Nobody seems to understand, This isn't about him learning the nuances of the game and I could care less if we went 1-15 as long as he improves. This is about learning the basics. Both Aikman and Manning knew how to make progression reads before they got on the field. There are certain basic things that you need to be able to do so you don't get killed at the QB position and being able to go through your read progressions is one of them. You guys have seen enough guys that can't make read progressions now that some of you should be able to key on this. This is about as important as not constantly fumbling the snap. Not being able to make read progressions is what ruined RG3. Not being able to make the reads is why RG3 has the RG knee. Each time his 1st read is covered, he's going to have to try to make something happen with his feet. This isn't college anymore and the first read is covered quite a bit. All this improvising is going to make bad habits and not good ones even if he stays healthy for a while. QB's can learn pre-snap reads on the football field, they can learn better accuracy on the football field, and they can learn some mechanics (DK still needs to work on syncing his hips a bit, but that is one thing that he can learn on the field)on the football field. They can't learn progression reads in the game. They have to learn them at a slower speed on a practice field and repeat them over and over until it's habit. The odds of DK surviving long enough to learn something that he should already know before getting on the field are not good.

I don't know why the browns are always so quick to rush a kid who is not ready in there so he can be ruined for the long run. Typical browns style.

Looking over the possibilities.
1. He learns on the field of play with close coaching and instruction from Hue n Lee. And Progresses quickly as he has shown to do so far.
2. My biggest negative thought is with Congestion instead of staying in the pocket and completing a pass he takes off and becomes damaged goods physically.
3. In addition to that taking off - he also could lose confidence although everything I have read on Kizer that would be very hard to do.
4. I'd like to see how simplified Hue is going to make this for Kizer which I think is very important. Add more as he grows. 5. I was definitely on board for keeping him off the field for a year. Then I started to warm up to the idea that he might take over after the London game/bye week. Now I can see this as a positive only if he keeps on progressing and learn from his mistakes and does not panic and falls into BAD HABITS.
The key here, is it possible he is a STUD in the making? Progresses and learns with each game? When will the game slow down for him. I'm curious how he will play with the Ones this week. Won't see until 1pm Monday.

Hopefully, Hue, the QB Coach, Kizer, and Brock are all in the film room 6 hours a day watching every film on the Steelers from the last 5 years - drilling every look into Kizer's mind.
It'd be more important if LeBeau was still calling the shots, but there is still enough of his influence lingering there for it to matter.
Browns is the Browns

Just curious purp ... is the 6 hours a day devoted to the stilers before or after he learns the plays, the formations, what the different formations mean to the play, blocking assignments, audibles, blocking assignement adjustments, how to call the plays, how to call the formation, making sure everyones lined up right, all the while making sure hes getting enough reps to commit the new mechanics to muscle memory and getting reps with his receivers ... oh ya .. lest i forget ... LEARNING HOW TO PLAY UNDER CENTER ... His heads swimming, hes got lots going on ... love the concept, but he needs to learn how to crawl before hes thrown into the shark tank ... its gonna be interesting watching Hue teach him to crawl while at the same time teaching him to swim good enough to avoid the sharks ...

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Just curious, but isn't that what they been teaching him since OTAs? I mean really, people talk as if this kid just joined the team and has had no work to this point. I'm not saying he knows it all, but he has to have been learning this stuff since he joined the team. Why is it that rookies start for other teams and struggle, but continue to play and learn, but if the Browns start a rookie, the fans act as if it is a death sentence? Some rookies catch on quick others never do. But this overwhelming grief that many are presenting is priceless. Not specifically you, but many act as if the kid just got to town. I mean, he's been being coached for this for months. I don't expect him to know it all, but many rookie QBs learn on the fly, it is not Armageddon. Many rookie QBs start their first year. Many struggle with the things you mention, but also many adapt pretty quickly to it. IMO, it is all about who the player is, not so much what team he's on. The ones that get it quickly survive, the ones that don't end up going from team to team. I think this kid is smart, and a hard worker. He will struggle some, but I got a feeling he will be one of the ones that learns quickly.
RIP, Jim

Kizer got more first team reps than Kessler did last year throughout camp. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't have been able to pick up as much. Plus, everyone around him wasn't also learning a new offense. While Kizer wasn't handed the job early, looking back it does seem that he was being groomed for it. As Hue said, he's cleared the hurdles set before him.
One thing that I think is a positive for Kizer that hasn't really been mentioned is that the screen game has seemed effective with him in there. I'm not sure when the last time was I've thought that about a Browns' QB. That added with his mobility could slow down pass rushes some. His pump fake and apparent ability to manipulate defenders with it could help with "reading defenses"/completing passes.

The Steelers D hasn't been the greatest the past few years, if it wasn't for Big Ben they would be a losing team ... JMHO
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Playing QB is really easy in the NFL, especially when you never called plays, didn't take many snaps under center, didn't have to make multiple reads, and even use a freaking snap count in college.
Should be a breeze because he's been here since May.
LOL...............this place is nuts.

LOL...............this place is nuts. Never said it was going to be a breeze. My point is that many act as if the kid just started learning yesterday. It is not as if it's never been done. Rookies handle it different. No where am I saying he definitely is going to be good, just that sometimes young guys do figure it out. He might, he might not. So you don't have to put words in my mouth to show your knowledge is better than mine. Its a different point of view, you know, the thing you always complain everyone is against.
RIP, Jim
