OHSAA Releases Football First-Round Playoff Pairings
Divisions I, II, III and IV play on Friday night, Divisions V, VI and VII play on Saturday night

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association has released the pairings for the first round of the football playoffs, with 448 schools qualifying for the 50th annual postseason tournament.

Divisions I, II, III and IV play on Friday nights, while Divisions V, VI and VII play on Saturday nights. All playoff games begin at 7 p.m. The first and second round games are hosted by the better seeded team. Neutral sites will be used beginning with the third round (regional semifinals).

Pulling for my new home teams of Medina & Medina Buckeye.

0-10 team in the playoffs?!

I think .500 is needed to be in the playoffs (we have the same issue here in PA)

yup. Archbold, undefeated. My first cousin's kid (my first cousin once removed?) is the qb and starting safety. He's just an athlete. All state first team in baseball last year - as a jr. Has a partial scholarship to BGSU if he wants it. I couldn't tell you how many t.d. passes this year, or runs. A lot.

But recently, with some bad weather games one of the bruiser rb's has been getting a lot more carries: 6', about 215, 220 lbs. He, the rb, is not a slasher. he's a pounder. Coach even told him early in the season, going against some stud linebacker "just hit him. Lower your shoulders and hit him. Don't cut. Hold onto the ball. Sure enough, that defender started shying away from making tackles. Archbold isn't one dimensional on O at all. They'll beat you passing, they'll beat you running, or beat you doing both.

Archbold has averaged 41 pts a game (without the qb for a number of second halves), had a running clock for a number of games. Giving upjust under 7 pt.s per game. And, for the first tournament game will be playing Delta, which they beat 42-3.

Last year I believe it was, we lost to Columbus Grove in ......regional semis? Regardless, CG won the hole thing last year If I remember correctly.




As for the brackets - I know OHSAA upped the number of teams that get in, but man, seeing 2-7 teams in the playoffs? Weird. I wish it would've been that way when I played, especially my sr. year. 9-1. Had ANY team we beat won one more game, we'd have made it. As it was, 9-1 wasn't good enough.

And yes, Archbold is D6. Gotta be the division the state puts you at, right?

So your thinking 728 teams in the first round of playoffs is excessive?

It's almost as bad as the NBA.


I reckon I also have to root for the alma mater, Lakewood, but they're not gonna go anywhere.

Well my high school won, Waverly, they were down 18-0 at halftime, came back to win 28-18. Terrible first half, great second half. Division 4, region 16. Now onto Clinton Massie next Friday.

D 6, Archbold was up 44-7 over Delta with a running clock early in the 3rd when we left.

Well, I now know Collins Western Reserve's record has 1 more loss. 42-7. Archbold. Another running clock game.

Next week is against a league team that is always tough. Earlier in the season Liberty Center got clobbered by Archbold. Won't be that easy this time, I'm sure. L.C. beat undefeated Columbus Grove tonight, setting up a rematch between Archbold and Liberty Center. L.C. plays good, hard hitting football, and has going way back to when I played.

The #1 team in the state, D 6, fell to the 14th state ranked team, Liberty Center, on a last second field goal. We out.
